ORLANDO, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team won a pair of matches over Gulf South Conference opponents, West Georgia and Mississippi College, on the opening day of the South Region Crossover. EC took the opener over UWG in four sets before sweeping MC Friday evening.
In the opener, the teams traded large runs early in the opening set, but Eckerd used a late 5-1 stretch to distance themselves before taking it, 25-22. The second set echoed the opener, with EC using a late 8-1 run to push in front before winning, 25-21. UWG capitalized on a 9-1 start to win the third stanza, 25-16. The Tritons responded to take the fourth set, ending the game on an 11-4 run.
EC and MC swapped leads in the opening set of the nightcap before Eckerd rolled off three straight points to take the opener, 26-24. Eckerd breezed in the next two sets, capping the second on a 7-2 run and the final stanza on a 5-1 stretch.

- Asya Harris paced the Tritons in the opener with a season-high 17 kills. She also hit a blistering .538 percent. She added seven kills while hitting at a .385 percent clip against the Choctaws. Harris hit .487 over both matches.
- Joelle Coulter posted her 10th double-double of the season with 10 kills and 13 digs in the opener. She led the team in the finale adding 14 kills.
- Krysten Garrison posted her sixth double-double of the season with 37 assists and 12 digs against the Wolves. She nearly posted another double-double in the finale with 36 assists and eight digs.
- Nicki Bechtold paced the back row against UWG with 16 digs.
- Aleksa Curta added three aces in the opener, while Coulter had three in the finale.
