ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team shut out the visiting Florida Southern Moccasins while adding a pair of second-half goals for a 2-0 victory Wednesday night at Johnson Field.
The first half saw both teams play a defensive battle with both squads firing four shots, with two on goal. Neither team was able to capitalize despite a couple of opening-half chances as both defenses proved uncompromising.
In the 47th minute,
Aisling Spillane collected a loose ball from 25 yards out and rifled a shot into the top left corner for the match's first goal.
Hajar Benjoud added an insurance goal in the 76th minute off a free-kick from 20 yards out for her team-leading fifth goal.
