ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd men's tennis team battled neck and neck with Findlay (Ohio) but ultimately fell to the Oilers, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon at the Bullard Courts.
Pierre-Olivier Lassalle and
Prakrut Patel opened doubles play with their fifth straight victory for the Tritons (2-3), but Findlay (6-6) took the final two matches for the doubles point.
Patel (6-2, 6-3),
Will Stone (6-0, 6-2), and
Alexander Webb (6-1, 6-3) all picked up victories for EC in singles play. Lassalle had a hard-fought contest but was bested by Soh Kuyama 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 in a third set tie-breaker in the No. 2 draw that proved to be the deciding factor in the match.
The Tritons are back in action on Friday as they host Davis & Elkins (W.V.) at 2:00 PM at the Bullard Courts.
