BOCA RATON, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team opened Sunshine State Conference play with a 1-1 draw at Lynn Saturday night.
Eckerd scored on a
Kaliya Eutsey free kick in the 52nd minute before the Knights equalized in the 73rd minute. Neither team was able to net the winning goal in overtime resulting in a draw.

KEY MOMENTS
- Eckerd opened the game with an aggressive attack as Hajar Benjoud rifled a shot on goal in the fourth minute while both Benjoud and Lashanti Williams missed shots high in the sixth and eighth minutes.
- Tara Harris had two good looks on goal for the Knights in 11th and 22nd minute, but each time Casey Winn was there to turn back the shot.
- Mackenzie Maggio gave Eckerd another quality chance just before halftime placing a low shot in the left corner, but Lynn keeper Tayna-Kiara Burga was there for the save as the teams went into halftime scoreless.
- Kaliya Eutsey put Eckerd on the board in the 52nd minute. Eutsey took a free kick just outside the left corner of the 18 sending in the goal to the far corner.
- Eckerd looked to add to its score minutes later as Kyndall Goodwin fired off two consecutive shots that narrowly missed in the 58th minute.
- The Knights evened the score in the 73rd minute. Lynn's defense sent a long pass to Anniina Sankoh inside the 18 where she lobbed a ball into the back of the net for the equalizer.
- Eutsey nearly sent in the golden goal in the 91st minute with a shot to the top left corner, but Burga was there for the save.
- Williams gave EC another chance in the 108th minute with a low shot to the left corner, but Burga was again there for the save.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- The teams played fairly even with Eckerd holding a slight edge in shots (19-17) and shots on goal (9-7).
- Eckerd's 19 shots were the team's second-most this season.
- Winn collected six saves in goal for the Tritons.
- Following the draw, Eckerd opens SSC play with a point for the first time since 2014.
- Tonight's game was Eckerd's third overtime game of the season.
