ST.PETERSBURG, Fla. - Sydney Case was selected to the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (D2CCA) All-South Region Second Team Wednesday morning.
Case, a sophomore from Lakeville, Minnesota, finished the season with 1,158 assists at an average of 10.16 per set, which both rank second in the SSC. Case also averaged 1.81 digs per set and posted seven double-doubles this season.
She is just the seventh Triton to record over 1,000 assists in a season.
Case posted a career-high 65 assists in a five-set win over Barry (October 26) while adding 12 digs. She ended the season with back-to-back double-doubles at Barry (November 22) and Palm Beach Atlantic (November 23).
She was named the SSC Setter of the Week twice this season (September 9 and October 7).
Case adds to the list of postseason accolades in her career. She earned a spot on the All-SSC Newcomer team last month and was named the Summit League Setter of the Year and Freshman of the Year last season at the University of Nebraska-Omaha.
She is Eckerd's first all-region selection since Kaitlyn Sibson earned AVCA All-Region honors in 2017.
Jordyn Poppen of the University of West Florida was named the South Region Player of the Year.
The D2CCA All-Region team is voted on by the region's Sports Information Directors and includes players from teams within the three regional conferences.
