MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – For the second time this season, the Eckerd volleyball team bested Barry in five sets. The Tritons rallied twice to take the second and fourth sets Friday night while dominating the Buccaneers in the fifth set for a comeback win in the Health & Sports Center.

KEY MOMENTS
- Barry opened the game on a 5-0 run before a Paula Hoffmann kill got Eckerd on the board. BU stayed in front the rest of the way. Eckerd managed to pull within 16-9 on back-to-back kills by Sarah Johnshoy and Hoffmann. The Buccaneers went on the take the set, 25-11, following a 9-2 run.
- The second set started tight before an Anna Jungjohann kill ignited a 3-0 run as the Tritons took an early 8-4 lead. Barry evened the score at 11-11 before EC rolled off three straight points to take a 14-11 lead. Eckerd held a slight advantage until Barry used a 5-0 stretch to pull in front 18-16. The Tritons responded with four consecutive points to go up 20-18 before the Bucs pulled back in front at 23-22. Eckerd quickly evened the score at 23-23 on an Agata Sklepik kill. The Tritons took the set 27-25 following a pair of Barry errors.
- Barry opened the third set with five straight points for an early lead. EC pulled within one at 10-9 following a 6-2 run capped by two straight Wisian and Sklepik tandem blocks. Eckerd followed with a 7-1 run to go in front 16-12 before the Bucs evened the score at 18-18. The teams then swapped points over the next stretch before Barry took a 22-20 lead. BU ended the set at 25-22 on a 3-1 run.
- The opening of the fourth set remained tight before Barry took a 10-6 advantage. A Wisian kill sparked a run of four consecutive points for Eckerd to take a 15-14 lead. The teams swapped points over the remainder of the set, with neither side able to generate more than a two-point lead. Eckerd took the set 27-25 on a Sydney Case ace.
- After an opening point by Barry, Eckerd rolled off six straight points highlighted by three consecutive Sklepik kills to take an early 6-1 lead. Back-to-back kills by Hoffmann gave EC a 9-2 lead. The Tritons cruised the rest of the way and took the match 15-5 following a Bucs' error.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Case (52 assists, 12 digs), Hoffmann (12 kills, 23 digs), and Sklepik (13 kills, 27 digs) each posted double-doubles.
- Sklepik and Hoffmann each set career-highs in digs. Hoffmann's double-double was the 24th of her career, while Sklepik's was her tenth.
- Sklepik and Wisian each posted six blocks while Wisian also posted 13 kills.
- 12 of Eckerd's 15 points in the fifth set were via kills as they hit .455 in the final set.
- Tonight is Eckerd's seventh five-set match of the season.
- Both of EC's matches against Barry this season were five-set wins.
