WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. The Eckerd volleyball team took a two-set lead over Palm Beach Atlantic Saturday night, but the Sailfish rallied to top the Tritons in five sets at Rubin Arena.
Both
Sydney Case and
Agata Sklepik came close to a triple-double in the loss. Case was one block away, while Sklepik needed three more aces.

KEY MOMENTS
- Eckerd jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the first set. PBA then rolled off four straight points to take a one-point lead before EC went on an 8-2 stretch capped by a Sklepik kill to take a 14-9 advantage. The Tritons stayed in front the rest of the set and used a run of six consecutive points to take a 10-point lead at 21-11. An Asya Harris kill gave Eckerd the set at 25-17.
- The Tritons opened the second set with a 7-1 run capped by a Lunana Rezende service ace. A Sarah Johnshoy kill later sparked a 4-0 run as Eckerd took a 19-10 lead. The Sailfish responded with an 11-3 run to trail by one at 22-21 before ending the set on a 5-1 stretch to take the set 26-24.
- EC opened the third set with a commanding 15-2 lead highlighted by four Sklepik aces. Eckerd cruised the rest of the way and took the set at 25-15 following three consecutive Sailfish errors.
- The teams traded points to start the fourth set before Eckerd took a slight 8-6 lead. EC later used a 6-1 run ending with a Rachel Wisian kill to take a 14-10 advantage. The Sailfish pulled within two at 15-13 before going on a run of four consecutive points to take an 18-16 lead. The Tritons responded with a 5-1 stretch to take a 22-21 lead, but PBA followed with a 4-1 run to take the set 25-23.
- EC took a quick 2-0 lead in the decisive set before the Sailfish responded to take a 4-2 lead. PBA stayed in front at 7-4 before Eckerd forced a pair of errors to pull within one. Palm Beach Atlantic went on a 7-1 run to take a 14-7 favor. Eckerd fended off the match with a Sklepik kill before PBA took the match 15-8.

NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Sydney Case flirted with a triple-double finishing the night with 45 assists, 12 digs, and nine blocks.
- Sklepik also came close to a triple-double with 11 kills, 14 digs, and seven aces. Her seven aces are the most by a Triton since Regi Silva recorded seven on September 22, 2008.
- Eckerd's 18 blocks were the most by a team since recording 19.5 at Rollins on November 15, 2016.
- Rachel Wisian recorded the first double-double of her career with 11 kills and 10 blocks. She recorded the most blocks by a Triton since Sarah Johnshoy also posted 10 on September 10, 2016.
- Harris led the Eckerd attack with 15 kills while Rezende led the back row with 23 digs.
- The match was Eckerd's eighth five-set match this season and second in as many nights.
