No. 16 Rollins Defeats Eckerd, 3-1

WINTER PARK, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team scored in the 37th minute Saturday night but dropped an SSC road contest, 3-1, at No. 16 Rollins.

KEY MOMENTS
  • Mackenzie Maggio gave Eckerd an early look on goal with a low shot in the fifth minute, but Rollins keeper Elena Beasley was there for the save.
  • Rollins took an early lead with a Kathryn O'Brien goal in the 15th minute. Ally Rost intercepted a Triton pass and one-touched a ball to O'Brien inside the 18, sending in a shot to the back of the net.
  • Chynna McGirt slid a pass to O'Brien across the top of the box in the 29th minute, where O'Brien touched it into the back of the goal to give the Tars a 2-0 lead.
  • RC added to their score in the 33rd minute with a Kayla Crosby goal. Olivia Talmage delivered a low pass to Crosby inside the box, who sent it into the back of the net.
  • Victoria Grant got Eckerd on the board with a goal in the 37th minute. Hajar Benjoud rifled a long-distance shot that was turned back, but Grant collected the rebound and fired it into the right side.
  • EC had a quality chance in the 62nd minute as Benjoud fired a shot to the top of the net, but Beasley was there to turn back the shot. 
  • Maggio gave Eckerd another two looks on goal in the 69th and 90th minutes, but neither shot was able to find the back of the net.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
  • Rollins held a 14-8 advantage in shots, but both teams placed five shots on goal each.
  • Grant netted her third goal of the season while Benjoud collected her first career assist.
  • Winn collected two saves in goal.
