MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team earned its first win in conference play topping Florida Tech 3-1 Wednesday night at Rick Stottler Field. A brace from Mackenzie Maggio and a strong night in the net from Casey Winn helped the Tritons snap a three-game losing streak.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Eckerd came out strong in the first half, wasting little time getting on the board with a goal from Mackenzie Maggio in the 15th minute. Hajar Benjoud fired a shot that deflected off the crossbar. Maggio settled the ball at the 18 and sent in the early goal to give the Tritons a 1-0 lead.
- Florida Tech strung together five shots over the next eight minutes. Each time, Casey Winn and the Triton defense were there to hold off the Panthers threat.
- In the 26th minute, Maggio extended Eckerd's lead to 2-0 with a shot from the left side that bounced off the crossbar and into the back of the net for her third goal of the season.
- Wasting no time at all, Victoria Grant broke away down the left side of the field and shot to the far post giving Eckerd a commanding 3-0 lead in the 32nd minute.
- Florida Tech started the second half with another string of shots but couldn't find the back of the net until the 58th minute. Alyssa Bartle delivered a ball to Maria Munoz, who buried it to the top left corner to get the Panthers on the board.
- The Panthers had another nine chances throughout the rest of the second half but were unable to find the back of the net as Eckerd took the match 3-1.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Winn collected a season-high 11 saves.
- Maggio netted her second and third goals of the season while Grant netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season.
- Florida Tech held a 26-12 advantage in shots and 12-5 favor in shots on goal.
