ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd volleyball team collected its first win over Palm Beach Atlantic since 2011 with a thrilling four-set victory Friday night at the McArthur Center.

Final: Eckerd 3, Palm Beach Atlantic 1 (25-20, 25-12, 18-25, 25-22)

KEY MOMENTS
- PBA jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead before Eckerd edged in front at 7-6. The teams remained close over the next stretch until EC rolled off four straight points to take a 17-13 lead. The Tritons held a small advantage for the rest of the set and took the set, 25-20, on a Sarah Johnshoy kill.
- Eckerd opened the second set by rolling off seven straight points behind the serve of Agata Sklepik. The Tritons stretched their lead to 15-3 on another Johnshoy kill. EC maintained its commanding lead the rest of the way and took the set at 25-12 on a Sailfish error.
- Palm Beach Atlantic jumped out to an early 5-2 lead until an Anna Jungjohann kill sparked a 4-0 Triton run to put EC up 6-5. The teams stayed within two points of each other over the next stretch before the Sailfish went on a five-point scoring run to take an 18-12 lead. PBA held its lead for the remainder of the set and used a three-point run to take the set at 25-18.
- After an early five-point Sailfish lead, Eckerd battled back to even the score at 13-13 on an Asya Harris kill. The teams stayed within two points of each other over the next stretch before Eckerd took a 21-17 lead on a Jungjohann and Rachel Wisian block. PBA managed to pull within one at 23-22 before Eckerd took the match at 25-22 following a Johnshoy and Sydney Case tandem block.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Harris led the Eckerd attack with 12 kills while Sklepik and Johnshoy added nine and eight, respectively.
- Sklepik missed her second double-double of the week by one kill as she also posted 16 digs.
- Luana Rezende led the Triton back row with 20 digs.
- Eckerd posted its first win over PBA since Sept. 9th, 2011. It is also the first conference win over the Sailfish since they joined the SSC in 2017.
