ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd volleyball team received a plethora of career-high performances in a back and forth five-set win over Barry Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Center.
Asya Harris and
Sarah Johnshoy set career-highs in kills while
Agata Sklepik and
Sydney Case had career nights in digs and assists, respectively.
The Tritons bounced back from an opening set loss to take the second and third sets. Barry took the fourth set and was on the brink of taking the match before Eckerd rolled off four straight points to end the game.

KEY MOMENTS
- Eckerd jumped out to an early 4-1 lead in the first set before the Buccaneers went on a 6-0 scoring run to take a 9-6 advantage. An Agata Sklepik ace capped a 3-0 Triton scoring run to even the score at 14-14. The teams swapped leads over the next stretch with neither side able to create more than a two-point advantage. The teams battled to extend the set before Barry took the set, 29-27, after two kills.
- EC took the lead to open the second set with an early 6-1 advantage. Eckerd used a five-point scoring run to extend its lead to 18-9. The Tritons remained in the driver's seat the rest of the way and took the set at 25-16 following a Sydney Case kill.
- The Tritons took a slight 5-3 advantage early before going on a 7-1 run to take a 13-7 lead. A Luana Rezende ace capped a five-point Triton run to extend the lead to 21-11. Barry followed with a 7-1 run to pull within four (22-18), but Eckerd maintained its edge and took the set at 25-20 on a Sklepik kill.
- EC jumped out to an early 7-4 lead before BU went on a 5-1 run to take a one-point lead. Barry's lead fluctuated between one and three points for the remainder of the set before taking the set at 25-22 following a Triton error.
- Eckerd took an early 3-1 lead on a Harris kill before Barry evened the score at 4-4. The teams swapped rallies and remained tied at 7-7 before Eckerd pulled ahead at 10-8. Barry used a late 5-1 run to take a 13-11 lead. The Tritons responded with four straight points to take the match at 15-13.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Harris led the Eckerd attack with 22 kills while Johnshoy also posted a career-high 17 kills. Johnshoy hit an impressive .467 with only three errors.
- Sklepik (13 kills, 21 digs) and Case (65 assists, 12 digs) both posted double-doubles. Sklepik's double-double was her second of the week while her 21 digs set a career-high. Case's 65 assists tied her career mark.
- Paula Hoffmann also posted 21 digs while Rezende collected 17.
- Eckerd finishes the week 3-0 after a midweek win at Florida Southern and victory over Palm Beach Atlantic last night.
