Tritons Fall to Embry-Riddle

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd women's soccer team dropped a Sunshine State Conference match 4-0 to Embry-Riddle Saturday night at Johnson Field.

Scoring Summary: ERAU - Seim 15' (unassisted), Okoro 53' (unassisted), Sheahan 58' (Munthe Nilsson), Okoro 62' (Navren). 

KEY MOMENTS

  • Embry-Riddle controlled the run of play early in the match, firing three shots in the first 12 minutes but were unable to find the back of the net.
  • The Eagles finally capitalized in the 15th minute when Maria Seim shot through traffic from 18 yards out. Seim snuck the shot just inside the right post to take a 1-0 lead.  
  • The Tritons had their best chance 15 minutes later when Kaliya Eutsey took a header off a corner kick, but keeper Dana Ruchti shut down the opportunity.
  • Embry-Riddle extended its lead in the 53rd minute when Rita Okoro buried a penalty kick into the upper left of the net. 
  • Five minutes later, the Eagles scored their third goal as Sofia Munthe Nilsson served a corner kick to the far post where Savanna Sheahan one-touched it into the back of the net. 
  • In the 62nd minute, Eagles' Okoro put away her second goal of the night after tapping in a pass to the far post from Navren. 

NOTES AND NUMBERS

  • Morgan Fleming posted a career-high four saves.
  • Returning from injury, Teagan Payne appeared in her first game since October 3rd, 2018.
