SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Eckerd volleyball team dropped the opening set Tuesday night at the Marion Bowman Center, but rallied to take the final three sets for their first victory over Saint Leo since 2016.

KEY MOMENTS
- The opening of the first set remained tight as Saint Leo edged out to an early 11-9 lead. The Lions stretched their lead to 16-10 before the Tritons rolled off six straight points to even the score at 16-16. Over the next stretch, SLU continued to take a slight edge with Eckerd rallying to even the score three times. An Asya Harris kill evened the set at 21-21 before SLU took the set with four straight points.
- After a back and forth start, EC rolled off four straight points to pull ahead 8-5. The Lions evened the score at 11-11 before a three-point run highlight by back-to-back aces from Dana Dull put Eckerd up 16-13. The Tritons maintained a small lead for the remainder of the set with an Agata Sklepik kill ending the set at 25-21.
- A Sarah Johnshoy ace put Eckerd ahead 6-1 as the Tritons raced out to an early lead in the third set. An Anna Jungjohann kill capped a four-point EC run extending the Triton lead to 16-8. Eckerd maintained its commanding lead for the remainder of the set with a Harris swing ending the set at 25-15.
- EC used an early 7-1 run to take a quick 10-4 lead in the fourth set. SLU managed to pull within four points at 19-15 following a run of four straight points midway through the set. The teams then swapped a series of two-point runs before a Johnshoy and Harris block ended the game.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Eckerd picked up its first win over Saint Leo since 2016 and first road victory at Saint Leo since 2013.
- Sydney Case (54 assists, 10 digs) and Sklepik (11 kills, 13 digs) both recorded double-doubles.
- Harris led the attack with 14 kills. Jungjohann posted a career-high 13 while Rachel Wisian added 12.
- Luana Rezende paced the backrow with 21 digs while Paula Hoffmann added 17.
