ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team struggled to find answers to solve an upstart Barry squad on Saturday, falling to the Buccaneers in straight sets in the McArthur Center.

Final: Barry 3, Eckerd 0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-20)
Records: Eckerd 7-6 (2-4 SSC), Barry 13-1 (5-1 SSC)
KEY MOMENTS
- Eckerd stayed ahead for the early portion of the first set, holding a 12-9 lead before Barry rolled off six straight points. Â The Tritons came back to tie the set at 17-17 but the Bucs used another six-point run to take control and ultimately take the set, 25-19.
- Trailing 6-5 in the second set, Eckerd found itself unable to get a side-out off the service of Madison Yarborough as Barry won nine straight points - four via Yarborough aces. Â The deficit proved too large for the Tritons to overcome as the Bucs took a two-set lead with a 25-11 win.
- Eckerd took a pair of three-point leads in the third set, the last coming at 13-10, before Barry again made a comeback. Â The Bucs tied the set at 14-14, then took the lead three rallies later at 16-15. EC managed to tie the set twice but never retook the lead, and Barry went on to complete the sweep after winning five of the final six points of the set.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- The win for Barry was its first in the McArthur Center since 2014.
- The Bucs gave Eckerd problems at the service line with 12 aces. Â The Tritons only managed a season-low two aces.
- Paula Hoffmann was the only Triton to reach double-digits in kills with 10. Payton Meader added eight while hitting .500.
- Arielle Erillo led the back row with 13 digs.
