ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Eckerd volleyball team received a career performance from
Asya Harris and some timely play late in the match, giving the Tritons an important 3-1 win over Lynn University in the McArthur Center on Friday night.
Eckerd closed the match by taking points on the last four rallies, holding off an effort by the Fighting Knights to force a fifth set.

KEY MOMENTS
- Harris dominated the first set, putting away 10 kills on 15 attacks as Eckerd pulled away late for an early lead. The Tritons never trailed in the set, but it was tied nine times. Â The last tie came at 19-19 before the Tritons closed with points on six of the final seven rallies.
- After falling behind 7-4 in set two, Eckerd rolled off nine straight points behind the service of Johana Havenaar. Â The Tritons still led by six at 22-16, but Lynn quickly began piecing together a comeback. Â The Knights took points on six of the next seven rallies to get within a point. A Harris kill got EC to set point and, after a sideout, a ball-handling error by Lynn gave Eckerd a 25-23 win.
- A run of six straight points gave Eckerd a 10-8 lead in the third set, and the lead later extended to three. Â However, the Fighting Knights responded with points on nine of the next 11 rallies and later won six straight points to close the set.
- In the fourth set, Eckerd built several three-point leads but was unable to push ahead further until back-to-back Arielle Erillo aces made the score 20-15. Â Lynn quickly pulled back within a point at 21-20 but got no closer as the Tritons secured the win on three kills - two from Sarah Johnshoy - and a Rebekah Machovec ace.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Erillo eclipsed the 100 ace mark for her career with her two aces late in the fourth set. Â She also had a match-high 21 digs.
- Harris's 21 kills were a career-high for the freshman, topping her previous best of 20 kills against Saint Leo two weeks ago.
- Freshman setter Lauren Kadilis, making her second career start, recorded 43 assists and missed a double-double by one dig.
- Lynn had a higher hitting percentage (.179) than did Eckerd (.154) but the Tritons put away 54 kills, 15 more than did the Fighting Knights.
