ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The Triton men's tennis team closed the 2018 season with a difficult task hosting No. 1 Saint Leo on Wednesday at the Bullard Courts.
The Lions (18-0, 7-0 SSC) confirmed their billing with a 9-0 win that clinched the Sunshine State Conference regular season title.
Saint Leo took two quick wins in doubles by matching scores of 8-1 at the No. 1 and No. 3 spots. Â
Matt Spasic and
Will Stone worked to extend their match at No. 2 doubles against Aurel Ciocanu and Francisco Aparicio before falling, 8-3.
Spasic came dangerously close to winning a point for Eckerd in singles play, facing Bruno Babic in the No. 3 spot. Â Spasic won the first set, 6-4, but Babic evened the match with a 6-1 win in the second set. That sent the match into a super tiebreaker where Babic emerged with a 10-6 victory.
The Tritons' season comes to an end with a record of 4-11.
Eckerd bids farewell to seniors

Robert Vazquez. Â Masella and Vazquez each won three doubles contests while Vazquez also scored three singles wins.
