LAKELAND, Fla. - The Triton men's tennis team suffered a setback on Thursday, falling on the road to Florida Southern 9-0.
The Mocs (7-7, 1-3 SSC), ranked 10th in the region and 43rd in the nation, were strong across the board in keeping the Tritons from taking a set. Florida Southern scored wins of 8-3, 8-2, and 8-0 in doubles before sweeping singles play afterward.
Charlton Ogg played a solid contest at No. 6 singles against Matt Matsuyama before dropping a 6-3, 6-2 decision. In No. 3 singles,
Matt Spasic worked to battle back from a 6-1 loss in the first set and force a third against Victor Ahlbeck, but Ahlbeck held off Spasic for a 6-3 second-set victory.
The Tritons (4-9, 0-7 SSC) return to the court on Saturday, April 7, with a visit to Ave Maria (Fla.) University.
