BOCA RATON, Fla. - The No. 3 Lynn men's tennis team lived up to its billing on Tuesday, taking a 9-0 victory from Eckerd in Boca Raton.
The Tritons were behind early with only five players in uniform, forcing a default at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Â Lynn (13-4, 6-1 SSC) then won the remaining seven matches to complete the sweep.
Will Stone and
Matt Spasic fell behind early but fought back to close the gap against William Ljungstrom and Adam Lunding at No. 2 doubles before falling, 8-6.
In No. 1 singles,
Alasdair Knox played step-for-step with eighth-ranked Jean-Baptiste Mateo in the first set though Mateo eventually prevailed, 7-5, to avoid a tiebreaker. Mateo then outlasted Knox in the second set, 6-2.
Spasic also put up a solid fight against No. 71 Florian Clemares at No. 3 singles before dropping a 6-4, 6-4 decision.
The Tritons (4-8, 0-6 SSC) return to the court on Thursday traveling to Florida Southern for a 3:00 PM start.
