ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Despite a cold shooting performance, the Eckerd women's basketball team remained fairly even with Lynn on Saturday afternoon in a game that featured a combined 19 ties and lead changes. However, the Tritons ultimately fell to the Fighting Knights, 61-59, at the McArthur Center.

KEY MOMENTS
- The opening quarter reminded tight throughout with the teams staying within two possessions of each other for the entirety of the first period. Lynn jumped out to a five-point lead with 7:21 left but the Tritons quickly evened the score following five straight points from Chelsea Johnson. Lynn grabbed another five-point lead with nearly two minutes left in the quarter but EC again evened the score at 16-16 before ending the quarter tied at 18-18.
- The Tritons used a 7-0 run to start the second quarter, holding a 25-18 lead with 7:26 left. Lynn managed to pull within one point with over four minutes left and then pulled ahead by one at the 3:29 mark. The teams traded baskets over the remainder of the period and entered the half tied at 36-36.
- The beginning of the second half remained equally as tight with the teams staying within one possession of each other over the first three minutes. Lynn then stretched its lead back to five points with 4:16 left before Eckerd pulled within two points following an Octavia Loll free throw with 1:48 left. The Knights closed the quarter with a 51-47 lead.
- Lynn stretched its lead to eight points with 8:06 left in the final quarter. Eckerd responded with a 6-0 run to pull within two points with 4:40 left after back-to-back baskets by Loll. However, EC went scoreless over its next five possessions while the Knights went back up by six at the 3:18 mark. A Loll layup pulled the Tritons within four and Eckerd followed by forcing a missed shot on the defensive end. The Tritons then got within two on a Yarden Danan layup to end an extended possession with nine seconds left. Eckerd fouled on the inbound pass, but Lynn's Christina Potts sealed the win with a pair of free throws.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Loll led the Tritons with a career-high 16 points while Johnson also scored in double figures with 11 points.
- Brooke Juday led Eckerd on the boards with a career-high eight rebounds while Abby Whiteye and Zoe Richards each grabbed six.
- Eckerd shot just 31.6 percent from the floor for their lowest shooting percentage this season while holding the Knights to a 34.9 shooting percentage.
- The game featured 12 lead changes and seven ties.
