MIAMI SHORES, Fla. - A hot-hitting Barry squad gave the Eckerd volleyball team a difficult matchup on Friday night as the No. 24 Buccaneers swept the Tritons in straight sets for the second time this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Barry raced out to an early 7-2 lead in the first set and never looked back. Â After a series of side-outs, the Bucs won five straight points for a 15-6 advantage. Â Barry's lead grew to as many as 13 points on the way to a 25-13 win.
- Eckerd stayed close at the start of set two before the Bucs went on a five-point run to go ahead 13-6. Â Barry stayed in control for the remainder of the set, winning eight of the final 10 points in taking a 2-0 match lead.
- The Tritons fell behind by six points (13-7) in the third set but three straight points out of a timeout cut the gap in half. Â Barry responded with a six-point run, aided by five Triton errors, to take a 23-14 lead. Â Eckerd, however, continued to battle, winning the next three points before the Bucs reached match point. Â EC stayed alive by taking points on five straight rallies but ran out of time as a kill by Bianca Pasca completed the sweep for Barry.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
- Barry hit .313 in the match but hit a combined .491 in the first two sets, including a .636 attack percentage in the second set. Â The Bucs committed only eight attack errors in the entire contest.
- Arielle Erillo had 14 digs, moving her into ninth place in the Triton record books for career digs with 1080.
- Abbie O'Ferrell led Eckerd's attack with seven kills while Rachel Wisian, Payton Meader, and Paula Hoffmann each had four.
