Tritons Fall on the Road to Palm Beach Atlantic

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Despite maintaining possession through the majority of the game, the Eckerd women's soccer team dropped an SSC contest, 2-0, Saturday night at Palm Beach Atlantic.

KEY MOMENTS
  • The Tritons worked the ball into Sailfish territory quickly registering four shots inside the first nine minutes. Stephanie Linton took a good look on frame in the ninth minute but PBA keeper Madison Chiola was there for the save.
  • The Sailfish quickly countered the Eckerd attack scoring in the 12th minute. After a tackle in the box PBA was awarded a penalty kick where Shannon Berg sent in the shot into the bottom right corner.
  • PBA struck again in the 29th minute as Ruth Galvan found an open Sophia Boris inside the box who sent in a low shot inside the right post.
  • Lauren Yudin gave the Tritons another quality look on goal in the first half firing a shot in the 30th minute but Chilola was there for the save again as PBA took a 2-0 lead into halftime.
  • Eckerd had several near chances on corner kicks late in the second half but were unable to convert. Linton's headers in both the 74th and 82nd minutes were turned back while Siobhan Longmore's attempt missed wide in the 78th minute.
  • Longmore gave Eckerd one last look in the 89th minute on another corner but her shot was saved by the Sailfish defense.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
  • Eckerd held a 17-6 advantage in shots including a 9-1 edge in the second half while holding an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Tritons also held a 5-1 edge in corner kicks.
  • Casey Winn collected four saves in goal.
