WOMEN'S SOCCER GAMEDAY: Tritons Travel to Lakeland to Face Southeastern

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After a successful three-match swing in Columbus, Georgia, the Eckerd women's soccer team return to Florida for its fourth contest in six days as the Tritons visit Southeastern (Fla.) University.

DO IT WITH DEFENSE: The Tritons opened the 2016 campaign with three contests in Georgia and used stout defense to walk away with a pair of shutout wins against in-region competition.  EC limited opponents to an average of 10 shots per game and only 16 total attempts on goal.

WINN EARNS HONOR IN DEBUT: Freshman goalkeeper Casey Winn played a major role in the team's defensive success with two clean sheets in her first three collegiate starts.  Her performance earned the Fort Myers native Sunshine State Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors, the first for an EC player since Morgan Crescent in October 2014.

GRAY IS GOLDEN: Transfer Kayla Gray notched the golden goal in the 97th minute to help lead Eckerd to a 1-0 upset of No. 18 North Alabama on Sunday.  Gray got behind the back line to chase down a pass from Leah Chisolm, then chipped the ball over a charging UNA keeper to secure the victory.

PUT OUT THE FIRE: Eckerd and Southeastern met last season in St. Petersburg, and the Tritons walked away with a 3-0 win.  This year, the Fire enter with an unblemished record and have yet to allow a goal this season.  They are also well-rested, having not played since August 29.
