BASEBALL GAMEDAY: Eckerd Returns to Action with Midweek Contest against Saint Anselm

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – With a week having taken place since their last game, the Tritons are ready to get on the field as they host the Saint Anselm Hawks at the Turley Athletic Complex in a midweek non-conference contest.

GAME 10: Saint Anselm (1-5) at Eckerd (5-4) | Tuesday - 6:00 PM
COVERAGE: Live Stats | Live Video
PROBABLE STARTER:  TBA

LAST TIME OUT: Three big innings at the plate for Eckerd powered the Tritons to a 9-5 victory over the Warner Royals last Tuesday at the Turley Athletic Complex. EC picked up 12 hits on the night which included a 3-run homerun by Rowdy Andrews in the bottom of the fifth inning to extend the lead to 6-2. Mike Eagan (1-0) recorded the win in relief as he struck out four of the seven batters he faced over two innings, allowing just one to reach base with a single up the middle.

TOM BUONO-FIDE: After playing his freshman season at the University of Rhode Island, Tom Buonopane transferred to Eckerd to join the Tritons roster. He's been a welcome addition at the plate and in the outfield as he leads the team with a .417 batting average which is the ninth best in the conference as of Sunday.

MOUND ROTATION: Head coach Juan Ranero is expected to throw multiple pitchers in the contest as he looks to season as many arms as possible for the difficult Sunshine State Conference schedule. This is familiar for Eckerd as it saw seven pitchers take the mound in the victory over Warner.

MATCHUP HISTORY: The Hawks and Tritons have met 14 times with the first contest taking place on March 6, 2003, and EC has dominated the series, 12-2.  On March 2, the Tritons defeated the Hawks 11-3 last season as EC recorded nine hits on the night. The last time SAC has defeated Eckerd was on March 1, 2011, 3-2. Every game in the series has taken place at Eckerd.
