TIGHT RACE: With one week left to play, the race for a top-six spot and post-season berth in the SSC is about as tight as it can get. Â Eckerd enters tonight tied with Rollins for fifth place with 10 points. Â A win for either team tonight goes a long way toward clinching a tournament bid for either team. Â However, three teams that trail Eckerd and Rollins (Barry, Saint Leo and Florida Southern) are still in the hunt but cannot afford a result other than a win this week. Â Eckerd could still finish as high as third if the Tritons win tonight and on Thursday at Barry.
NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Eckerd would certainly like to close the regular season with enough points to earn home-field advantage during the opening round of the conference tournament. Â That's because the Tritons are 7-2-1 at home this season and 12-3-2 over the last two years.
ABOUT THE TARS: Tonight marks the final conference match for Rollins, which needs a win to have a chance for a spot in the SSC tournament. Â The Tars enter the match tonight having lost three of their last four, giving up 13 goals during the stretch. Â Matt Volk (nine goals) and Tosan Popo (seven goals) are both dangerous scoring threats that EC will need to mark.
