MEN'S SOCCER GAMEDAY: Tritons Visit Rollins, Look to Secure Postseason Bid

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The fight for position in the Sunshine State Conference tournament continues tonight as the Eckerd men's soccer team hits the road to face Rollins College at 7:00 PM.

MATCH 14: Eckerd (7-4-2, 3-3-1 SSC) at Rollins (7-6-1, 3-4-1 SSC) | 7:00 PM | Winter Park, Fla.

TIGHT RACE: With one week left to play, the race for a top-six spot and post-season berth in the SSC is about as tight as it can get.  Eckerd enters tonight tied with Rollins for fifth place with 10 points.  A win for either team tonight goes a long way toward clinching a tournament bid for either team.  However, three teams that trail Eckerd and Rollins (Barry, Saint Leo and Florida Southern) are still in the hunt but cannot afford a result other than a win this week.  Eckerd could still finish as high as third if the Tritons win tonight and on Thursday at Barry.

NO PLACE LIKE HOME: Eckerd would certainly like to close the regular season with enough points to earn home-field advantage during the opening round of the conference tournament.  That's because the Tritons are 7-2-1 at home this season and 12-3-2 over the last two years.

ABOUT THE TARS: Tonight marks the final conference match for Rollins, which needs a win to have a chance for a spot in the SSC tournament.  The Tars enter the match tonight having lost three of their last four, giving up 13 goals during the stretch.  Matt Volk (nine goals) and Tosan Popo (seven goals) are both dangerous scoring threats that EC will need to mark.
