FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Eckerd men's soccer team rallied from an early deficit to take a second-half lead, but Nova Southeastern scored twice in a five-minute span to hand the Tritons a 3-2 setback Wednesday night on the road.

Nova Southeastern opened the scoring in the 26th minute before Eckerd answered just before halftime. Gavin Spuler netted the equalizer in the 45th minute off a feed from Lucas Quinones, sending the teams into the break tied at 1-1.

The Tritons carried their momentum into the second half, breaking the deadlock in the 69th minute as Monty Clark found the back of the net off an assist from Sebastian Schmalbach to give Eckerd a 2-1 advantage. The Sharks responded with the equalizer in the 74th minute before scoring the eventual game-winner in the 78th minute to reclaim the lead, 3-2.

Spuler and Clark each recorded their second goals of the season, while Quinones and Schmalbach added assists. Spuler, Clark, and Tristan Bassette paced the Tritons with two shots apiece, while Spuler placed both of his attempts on target.

Nova Southeastern held an 18-10 advantage in shots and a 9-4 edge in corner kicks. Trent Murphy made four saves in goal for Eckerd.
