Box ScoreST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's tennis program tallied its fifth win of the spring campaign taking down Bentley University on Saturday afternoon, 7-2.
The Tritons (5-4, 0-2) picked up their third win of the week in non-conference play against the Falcons (5-4, 1-0).
"The men had a great win today," said Head Coach,
Ben Maxwell. "We went out today and played really good tennis and I am proud of the win."
The tandem of
Eddie Lewis and
Connor Masella continue their hot streak at the No. 3 doubles slot picking up their team leading seventh win of the season. The duo had a tough match but remained focused to take home the 9-7 victory and remain undefeated.
Yosua Adiyasa and
Frazier Springfield grabbed the Tritons other doubles win, taking down the Falcons Alex DeMuth and Kamil Pilch, 8-1.
EC took home five of the six singles matches in straight set performances.
Victor Appeqvist improved to 7-2 on the season getting a big win in singles to remain atop the leaderboard from the No. 4 slot.
Senior
Stephen Felman improved to 4-4 on the spring in singles play downing Evan Compka, 6-0, 6-3. Springfield defeated Jerry Liang in straight set decisions of 6-3 for his fifth win of the spring.
Manning the No. 5/6 slots, Lewis and Masella each took home the Tritons final two wins of the day, downing the Falcons Felipe Palacios and Alberto Riveroll.
Eckerd will be back out on the courts Tuesday playing host to Southeastern Oklahoma State at 11 a.m.
