Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball team put up nine runs in each game of their double header against Webber International University on Tuesday night, taking both contests by scores of 9-0 and 9-3.

The Triton offense unloaded in the first inning putting up six runs to jump out to a solid lead. Amber Hay hit a sacrifice fly to score Carrie Shere for the first run of the game. Erin Dixson plated Kara Oberer with a single up the middle. Dana Paul stepped up to the plate having never hit a home run in her young collegiate career. That quickly came to an end when the catcher put the ball over the center field fence for a grand slam.

In the third inning, Paul singled in her fifth RBI of the game. Kirby Parnell and Oberer also added RBI's in the inning. Pitchers Hay and Grace Willeck combined to shutout the Warriors on their way to a five inning 9-0 victory. Hay is now 8-2 on the season.

Dixson toed the rubber in the second game of the double header but it was her bat that got her team out in front. Sydney Dinelli scored on a single to center field from Hay. Dixson then hit a deep drive to right center field for a three run homer to go up 4-0.

Oberer scampered across home plate in the third off a miscue by the Webber defense. Later in the same inning, Hay collected her third hit of the day, an RBI triple down the right field line. The Warriors managed to get three runs across in the fourth making it a 6-3 ball game.

Kaycie Duncan added another insurance run in the fifth scoring on a wild pitch. Oberer crushed an inside pitch in the sixth for a two run home run. Dixson went six innings in the circle giving way to Janna Gaburo in the seventh to secure the 9-3 victory. Dixson improves to 5-0 on the year.

Dixson ended up 3 for 5 on the day with one HR, four RBI's and three runs scored. Oberer, Shere and Hay also collected three hits between the two games. In 14 innings of the play, the Tritons totaled 21 hits.

Eckerd (15-2, 0-0) will open up Sunshine State Conference play this weekend when they welcome in Florida Southern College (11-4, 0-0). Game one of the three game series is on Friday and is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
