ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.
– The Eckerd College men's tennis team earned its second victory of the spring season in a 7-2 victory over Bentley (Mass.) University on Saturday morning at the Dick Bullard Courts.

The Tritons (2-10, 0-4 SSC) fell behind to Bentley (5-5, 4-0 Northeast-10) 2-1 after the conclusion of doubles play, but a flawless performance in singles action secured the win for the Tritons.

"The men knew they needed to hang tough and play with determination and focus during singles," said EC interim head coach Ben Maxwell. "Sweeping singles was key and I think it was due to the fact that everyone rallied behind each other and stayed confident all day."

Sophomores Yosua Adiyasa and Frazier Springfield defeated Kamil Pilch and Alex DeMuth in a commanding 8-1 performance to claim the Tritons' lone doubles win. Adiyasa and Springfield have now won three straight matches in doubles play.

Adiyasa opened up singles competition in the No.1 slot by defeating Pilch, 6-3 and 6-1, and the rest of the squad followed suit as senior Nikita Valuiskikh, Springfield, junior Stephen Felman, junior Luke Burton and freshman Eddie Lewis each took home wins, respectively.

Felman defeated Bentley opponent Chase Rosa for his second singles win of the year, 6-2 and 6-0, while Burton outlasted Evan Chomka in a tough three-set match (6-2, 3-6, 12-10).

Eckerd will continue its schedule at home on Monday, March 17, against Merrimack (Mass.) College at 2 p.m. EST.
