Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College men's basketball team completed the 2013-14 regular-season sweep against Rollins College with a 66-57 win on Saturday night at the McArthur Center.

Eckerd (13-9, 5-5 SSC) had previously downed Rollins (10-11, 4-7 SSC), 66-59, on the Tars' home court on Jan. 11 in Winter Park.

Senior guard Alex Bodney reached a career milestone in the win. With 6:59 left on the clock, Bodney sank his ninth point of the night to reach 1,000 career points. All nine of Bodney's points came from free throws as he went 9-of-10 from the line.

Bodney is also currently fourth in Eckerd history in career free throws made with 383 and he became the 17th player all-time to score 1,000 points or more in his career.

The Tritons posted their best single-game free-throw percentage (.816) of the year and scored nearly half of their total points from the line, sinking 31-of-38 attempts.

At the half, Eckerd led by 10, 28-18, holding Rollins to its second-lowest scoring total in the first half on the season.

But a 9-3 run to open the second half pulled the Tars within one, and with 9:49 left in the game, a three-pointer from James Ferrell tied the game at 40.

The one-possession game would only last for a couple minutes as the Tritons answered with a 7-0 run to extend their lead to seven and give them the momentum to hold off the Tars for the final five minutes.

Senior Josh Snodgrass led all scorers with 19 points and added six rebounds, while freshman Matt Beneduci scored a season/career-high 11 points with nine coming from behind the arc.

Senior Mitch Woods led Rollins in scoring with 15 points, and junior Chris Uhle fell one rebound short of a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

The Tritons remain at home next Wednesday, Feb. 12, against No. 6 Florida Southern College for a 7:30 p.m. EST tip-off.
