Ryan Earns 350th Win Against Cedarville

Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - On the first day of the Tampa Classic, the Eckerd College men's basketball team took down Cedarville University, 74-61, giving Head Coach, Tom Ryan his 350th victory.

Coach Ryan reaches the milestone in just his 19th season at the helm of the Tritons. He is the second winningest coach in Eckerd College history sitting 71 wins behind legendary coach Jim Harley.

It was a tightly contested first half for the Tritons. Eckerd was down eight with 13:37 remaining before E.J. Moody hit a big three pointer. Keshawn Ingram followed Moody up with a two point jumper and a clutch three to tie the game at 18-18.

CU managed to tie it up with a jumper from Marcus Reineke. Moody answered back with his second three of the game to take back the lead. When he was not scoring, Moody dished out the assists to Ray Darnell down low to give EC a seven point lead with less than five minutes on the clock.

Ingram dropped in two free throws to end the first half sending the Tritons into the locker room with a 37-28 lead. Eckerd shot 50 percent from the floor in the first half and 56 percent from three point land.

Kevin Walsh was able to put Eckerd up by 10 to start the second half with a deep three pointer. Trevon Young was able to dribble it up the court and knock down an open jumper to increase the Triton lead to 14 midway through the second half.

Matt Beneduci gave EC a 61-42 advantage with a three from the corner pocket. Cedarville battled back within eight with 4:30 remaining, but would not get any closer. The Tritons took home the win, 74-61.

Ingram led the Tritons with 17 points coming off the bench. Darnell ended with eight points and eight rebounds while Moody totaled nine points. Malcolm Brunner Jr. walked away with nine points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots.

"Our guys found some defensive chemistry tonight," said Coach Ryan. "We need to continue to build on that. Our offense battled on the court and I was really happy with our performance."

When asked about win number 350 Ryan said, "I've been blessed to have so many great young men help our program win games. I hope we can continue to grow as a
program."

Eckerd (6-3, 1-0) will be back in action Sunday for the second day of the Tampa Classic. The Tritons will take on Limestone College (2-9) at 2 p.m.
