Box Score TAMPA, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's soccer team fell to the University of Tampa in the first round of the Sunshine State Conference Tournament on Tuesday, 2-0.
There was a chill in the air as the two teams battled until the end, knowing that the winner would advance into the semifinal round.
A Tampa goal in the 18
th minute was the first goal scored between either team in 130 minutes of play.
The goal was an outcome of a foul in the box that resulted in a penalty kick. Just minutes later, Tampa dropped in the second goal of the night.
The next 25 minutes would go by scoreless as the Tritons would go into the half, trailing the Spartans, 2-0.
Eckerd picked up the intensity in the second half and fought to put a score on the board.
The Tritons doubled their shots from the first half, taking every opportunity they had to capitalize.
Arie Anahory and
Jordan Humbert each rattled off a shot a piece on goal.
With 24 minutes remaining in the second half,
Morgan Crescent came up big with a huge one on one save, being knocked to the ground and still holding on to the ball.

Elena Madrazo held down the defense, fighting off 17 shots from the Spartans.
As the clock ticked down, Eckerd saw the end of an era as six seniors time as a Triton came to an end.

Sarah Trumbull, and
Kaitlyn Curley have given the last four years to the Eckerd College Soccer program. This senior class has broken countless records and turned this program into a conference contender.
"I am so proud of our team, they played extremely tough tonight," said Head Coach,
Danielle Fotopoulos. "We will miss our seniors incredibly but we thank them for the pillars they have left to build on for the future of the women's soccer program at Eckerd."
