Joe McLemore belted his team-leading fourth home run of the spring, Alex Menendez provided a lockdown effort out of the bullpen and the Eckerd College baseball team completed a two-game sweep of Saint Anselm (N.H.) College Wednesday night, 6-4.

The senior first baseman McLemore went 2-for-4 on the night, driving in three runs and scoring two to lead the Tritons on the night.

Freshman David Horsfield got the first start of his career on the mound for Eckerd College (8-4, 0-0 SSC), winners of four straight, as he went three strong innings while scattering five hits and striking out one.

Horsfield labored slightly, allowing four hits and two runs as Saint Anselm (3-5 overall) got out to an early two-run lead. The freshman settled down in his final two innings of action, yielding just one hit.

The Eckerd bats came alive in the bottom of the second inning as McLemore, Joey LaRose and Dan Capra, all drove in runs for the Tritons.

The hurler Menendez came in to finish the final six innings the mound and scattered two hits and one earned run in a stellar relief performance. For his efforts, Menendez was credited with his first win on the season.

Menendez had a rough start to the top of the fourth, as he hit a batter and allowed a run to score off a balk. The junior would go on to allow only one hit in the final five innings he pitched.

The Tritons would draw even with the Hawks in the bottom of the fourth inning, as senior David Regidor drove in Kevin Rea on a sacrifice flyout to center field.

Eckerd took a two-run lead in the bottom of the fifth inning as McLemore homered to deep left field to bring in LaRose.

The Tritons will play host to a three-game series this weekend against Florida Memorial University on Friday and Saturday at the Turley Athletic Complex. The first game will be Friday, March 2, at 7 p.m.
