WINTER PARK, Fla. - Eckerd College women's soccer standouts Senior
Dana Treat and sophomore
Morgan Crescent were named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Team today as announced by the league.
Treat, on the ballot as a midfielder, and Crescent, a fast-rising goalkeeper, both landed on the All-SSC Second Team.
Respectively, each student-athlete has helped navigate the Tritons to unprecedented heights as they prepare for a semifinal clash in the Florida Blue SSC Championship tomorrow evening at No. 1 seed Rollins College.
Treat leads her team in goals on the season with eight and is second on the team in assists. She sits at fourth in the conference for goals per game at 0.50.
Treat has started every game she has appeared in so far this season.
“I know that this means so much to Dana wrapping up her senior season,” EC Head Coach
Danielle Fotopoulos said. “She brings so much leadership and hard work to the team; she has really been a huge factor in our successful season.”
The standout netminder Crescent has had a record-breaking season of her own with 1,635 minutes logged to complement EC's memorable year.
She leads the conference in save percentage (.864) and in saves per game with 6.72. Crescent also shattered the single-season shutout record in school history by recording seven to date so far.
“Our defense as a whole has done great things this season and it reflects Crescent's leadership in spearheading the operation back there,” Fotopoulos continued. “Setting the school record in shutouts in a season is a huge accomplishment and her hard work really paid off.”
In EC's quarterfinal upset win against Nova Southeastern University, Crescent had an impressive 19 saves during the night which puts her in second behind teammate
Lauren Fernandez for the most saves ever recorded in a single game.
“Both of these girls have stayed extremely humble through everything and really deserve it,” Fotopoulos said.
A total of 23 student-athletes were named to the All-SSC Team. Lauren Moore (Tampa) was named the SSC Player of the Year and Cici Gonzalez, also of Tampa, was tabbed Freshman of the Year. Rollins collected Defensive Player of the Year (Anita Cox) as well as Offensive Player of the Year (Brenna McKee).
Rollins' Alicia Milyak Schuck was voted as the league's Coach of the Year.
The Tritons will head to Winter Park, Fla., to take on Rollins in Friday's semifinals. The Tritons and Tars will kick-off at 7 p.m.
