MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. -- The Eckerd Tritons women's soccer team closed out its regular season slate on Tuesday on the road, playing to a 1-1 draw with the Georgia College & State University Bobcats.
The two teams combined for 16 shots in the opening half, with the Tritons reaching double figures in that category. After six shots flew off the mark, Eckerd struck first with a goal by
Jasmine Gallo in the 23rd minute.
Ava Costa sent the ball down the left side to
Freija Aflenzer, who then fed Gallo the ball before she put it into the right corner of the net. Both Costa and Aflenzer were credited with assists on the play. The Bobcats answered with a goal in the 37th minute to even the score at 1-1 entering halftime. All six shots GCSU posted through the first 45 minutes were on target, with
Madi Winn notching five saves out of the six she faced.
Both the Tritons and Bobcats saw fewer opportunities in a defensive second half. Each team put up a shot in the first three minutes of action, but neither saw an attempt on the mark until Winn collected her sixth save of the game in the 63rd minute.
Natalie Rudman had a pair of shots on goal for Eckerd, but the 1-1 score remained intact through the final whistle.Â
Rudman and Costa led the Tritons with three shots apiece, while Winn finished with seven saves.
The Tritons now sit at 7-5-4 overall and will await to find out their opponent on Monday to open the SSC Tournament.
