Eckerd-Florida Tech Box Score
MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball team had some defensive miscues early en route to a 9-6 loss at Florida Tech on Friday at Nancy Bottge Field.
Lani Ankiel led the Panthers (19-15, 4-6 Sunshine State Conference) with three hits and three runs scored. Florida Tech tallied 11 hits and took advantage of six Eckerd errors.
Sophomore Sarah Agnew went 4-for-4 with two runs scored to lead the Tritons (11-27, 0-10). Freshman Chelsea Jeffares had two hits and drove in two runs.
Trailing 7-0 after five innings, the Tritons used six hits to score six runs in the final two frames. Florida Tech, though, scored two runs in the sixth to cinch the win.
The Tritons finished with 10 hits overall.
“I felt like there were times in the game where we had chances to come back,” said Eckerd head coach Josh Beauregard. “However we committed too many errors today to have a chance to win.”
The two teams will play a 1 p.m. doubleheader on Saturday.
