Game Two Box Score

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball team dropped two games to Carson Newman Monday at the Turley Athletic Facility.

Eagles junior Mary Shealy pitched consecutive complete games to earn both wins for Carson Newman. Shealy also went 3-for-7 and drove in two runs.

The Eagles took the lead early in game one, scoring two runs in the top of the second and one in the top of the third.

The Tritons conjured up a two-out rally started by sophomore Kristen Schurr's two RBI double to left center in the bottom of the fourth inning. Junior Emily Wiemken doubled to center field to bring in Schurr as the tying run. Carson Newman, though, would go on to score runs in two of the final three innings to win game one 6-3.

The Tritons struggled to get runners home in game two, as Shealy pitched a seven-hit shutout to earn the 6-0 win. Eckerd left five runners on base.

The Tritons will host Hillsdale College for a doubleheader on Wednesday at 5 p.m. Live statistics will be available on eckerdtritons.com.
