ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Kati Rausberg scored 23 points, including six 3-pointers, to lead the Eckerd College women's basketball team to a 70-62 win over visiting Rollins College in the quarterfinals of the 2011 BlueCross and BlueShield of Florida SSC Basketball Championship.
The No. 4 seed Tritons (17-10) made 11 treys and shot 54 percent from beyond the arc to defeat the No. 5 seed Tars (21-8) for the third time this season.
The win advances Eckerd into the tournament semifinals in Melbourne, where they will face No. 1 seed Florida Southern on Saturday.
The victory also ties the program's single-season record for wins.
Ashley Lutz scored 18 points for the Tritons, while Taylor Young added 10.
Kristina Mingos led Rollins with 13 points.
Both teams struggled from the field in the first half and were tied at 28-28 at halftime. But the Tritons warmed up in the second half, shooting 54 percent while holding the Tars to a 28 percent clip.
Eckerd never trailed after the 13:44 mark of the second half but never led by more than nine.
