CLEARWATER, Fla. – The Eckerd College softball team dropped a pair of games to Nova Southeastern and Palm Beach Atlantic in Saturday action of the EC Softball Invitational.
NSU scored seven runs in the first inning en route to an 11-2 win in the first game before PBA broke a 2-2 tie with two runs in the sixth to take a 4-2 victory.
Gianni Artidiello went 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored for NSU (9-4), and the Sharks tallied 12 hits overall.
Erica Walters went 3-for-3 wit two RBIs and a run scored for PBA. Her RBI single in the sixth inning scored the go-ahead run.
Junior outfielder Emma Docking went 4-for-7 with an RBI and a run scored on the day for Eckerd (4-10). Kristen Schurr had two hits in the opener against NSU, while Chelsea Jeffares had a two-run triple against PBA.
Eckerd will wrap up tournament play on Sunday against West Florida and Flagler. The Tritons play UWF at noon before facing Flagler at 2:30 p.m. All games are at Eddie C. Moore Softball Complex.
