MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Eckerd College women's basketball team held Florida Tech to four field goals in the second half to rally for a 61-51 win on Saturday at the Clemente Center.
Kati Rausberg had 14 points, while Ashley Lutz and Taylor Young combined for 11 each, as the Tritons (15-10, 8-7 Sunshine State Conference) improved to 4-1 in their last five road games.
Eckerd was down by as many as 11 points in the first half and trailed 33-25 at halftime. But the visitors held the Panthers (21-5, 10-4) to 17 percent shooting in the second half.
Florida Tech's cold shooting helped the Tritons go on a decisive 13-0 run during a 4:15 stretch in the final nine minutes. Eckerd forward Tijana Brdar scored all of her six points during the spurt.
The Tritons also closed the game with a 13-for-13 effort from the free-throw line in the second half.
Lynisha Nelson scored a game-high 15 points for Florida Tech.
The win helps Eckerd move a half-game behind No. 23 Rollins in the race for the No. 4 seed in the upcoming Sunshine State Conference Championship. The top four seeds get to host a first-round championship game.
