ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Eckerd College softball outfielder Emma Docking had four hits and scored three runs during the Tritons' doubleheader sweep over visiting Ave Maria on Saturday at the Turley Athletic Complex.

Docking went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 7-3 victory in the opener and was part of a fifth-inning rally that led the Tritons to a 4-3 win in the nightcap to help Eckerd (3-7) post its first twinbill sweep of the season.

Alex Sasso(2-2) and Kaitlyn Dougherty (1-2) each recorded five strikeouts and gave up just two earned runs to post the wins in the circle. It was the first career victory for the freshman Dougherty.

In the second game, Kirsten Cox's RBI double in the fifth inning tied the game at 3-3, and Cox later scored on an Ave Maria error with two outs to help the Tritons to a come-from-behind win.

Eckerd was down 3-0 in the fourth inning before cutting it to 3-2 thanks to another two-out Ave Maria error.

The Tritons did not need the help in the opener. Eckerd tallied 13 hits, including five during a four-run second inning, as the hosts quickly jumped out to a 5-0 lead.

Ave Maria scored three in the third, but Eckerd responded with two runs in the fourth – keyed by a two-run single by Kristen Schurr. Schurr went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the contest.

The Tritons will play host to the Eckerd College Invitational next Friday through Sunday in Clearwater.
