MIAMI SHORES, Fla.
– Freshman Arielle Anahory netted her team-leading fourth goal of the season, but the Eckerd College women's soccer team fell on the road against Barry University on Sunday, 1-6.

Emma Karp completed the hat trick for the Buccaneers (5-6, 2-3 SSC), who surged in the second half on the strength of four goals as the Tritons (3-9, 0-5 SSC) remained within striking distance at halftime, down just one goal.

Reserve Katrina Molfetta recorded a different kind of hat trick, dishing out a trio of assists to help the Bucs' winning cause.

The game, which was postponed from Saturday due to thunderstorms and flooding throughout Miami-Dade County, was played through scattered showers.

Anahory brought the Tritons within a one-goal deficit with a strike from 12 yards out against Barry's defense in the 32nd minute. Meredith Mahoney was credited with the assist on the play and EC's lone goal came after Barry found the net earlier in the 6th and 16th minutes.

The Bucs' 2-1 lead would stand until halftime.

After the break, Karp scored her second goal of the game at the 50:09 mark and completed the hat trick 14 minutes later to give the Bucs a 5-1 lead.

Barry added extra insurance off the legs of Melissa Madrid and Joanna Stewart.

EC freshman goalkeeper Lauren Fernandez made 12 saves on 37 shots in the Tritons' effort.

The Tritons return home for a Tuesday non-conference contest against Clearwater Christian College. Action at the Turley Athletic Complex is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
