SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo's Celeste Bonter had 13 kills and 16 digs to lead the Lions to a 3-0 win (25-21, 25-23, 25-20) over visiting Eckerd College on Tuesday.
Bonter was one of two Lions to record a double-double, as Bruna Rocha had 10 kills and 17 digs for Saint Leo (6-5, 2-1 Sunshine State Conference).
The Tritons led for much of the opening set before the hosts rallied to win six of the final eight points. Eckerd seemed poised to even the match after grabbing a 22-19 advantage in the second set.
But Saint Leo rallied to win six of the final seven points to grab a 2-0 lead. The Lions jumped out to a 17-8 lead in the final set to clinch the sweep.
Saint Leo, which was ranked sixth nationally earlier this year, had 62 digs and 11.5 blocks.
The Tritons will jump out of conference on Saturday, traveling to North Alabama for a 2 p.m. contest.
