Softball Shut Out by Lynn in Double-Header

BOCA RATON, Fla. – After coming off of an extra inning win yesterday, the Eckerd College softball team dropped their Sunshine State Conference double-header to the Lynn Fighting Knights Saturday afternoon at the McCusker Complex.  Lynn shut out the Tritons in both games, defeating Eckerd 7-0 in game one, then 8-0 in five innings in the second game.

The Fighting Knights (24-28, 7-14 SSC) broke out the bats in game one, collecting 12 hits off of the Triton (5-32-1, 5-16 SSC) pitching staff.  They scored their first run in the bottom of the second, and continued to add on to their score, making it a 7-0 ball game.  The Lynn pitching staff allowed three hits, two of which came off the bat of Kirsten Cox and the other from Emily Wiemken.

It was a similar story in game two for Lynn, as they connected with nine hits and scored eight runs.  It was another three-pitch shut out for the Lynn pitching staff.  Wiemken picked up her second hit of the day during the contest, while Mackenzie Dawson and Kelly Coston connected with the other two.

Eckerd will close out their regular season as they travel over to the University of Tampa on April 30th for the first game of their SSC conference series.  First pitch is set for 7:00 pm.
