Zaronn Cann scored 18 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the field to lead the Eckerd Tritons (12-7, 5-4 SSC) to an easy 71-54 victory over the Barry Buccaneers (13-7, 5-5 SSC) on Wednesday evening at the Health and Sports Center.
Barry's only lead of the evening, 6-4, quickly evaporated and eventually transformed into a 30-20 deficit, thanks to a three-pointer by
John Harper with 2:49 to go.
Ahead 35-24 at the half, Eckerd maintained its level of play, eventually taking its largest lead, 68-48, on a layup by
Lance Kearse with 5:21 to go. This run put the Tritons on their way to a 17-point victory.
Eckerd out-shot Barry, 48.3 to 39.1 percent from the field while out-rebounding the Bucs, 32-28. Harper scored 13 points while
Wayne Sears added 10 points off the bench. Barry's Tony Dennison led all scorers with 16 points.
Eckerd will return to action on Saturday, February 6 as it hosts Nova Southeastern at 4pm.
