ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - In a game where both teams featured four players with double digit points,
John Harper scored 19 points, while
Zaronn Cann added 17 points and seven rebounds in 12 minutes of action, but the Barry Buccaneers (9-3, 1-1 SSC) would go on to defeat the Eckerd Tritons (6-4, 0-1 SSC), 97-87, on Saturday afternoon at the McArthur Center.
Despite shooting a hefty 50.8 percent from the field, the Tritons had no answer for a Buccaneer offense that shot 63.5 percent from the field and 68.4 percent (13-of-19) from three-point range.
The game was relatively close in the first half as the two teams accounted for five ties and a whopping 15 lead changes but Barry's Erick Nsangou, who led all scorers with 27 points in the game, gave Barry the lead for good, at 45-44, with a bucket with four seconds left in the half.
In the second half, Barry upped the ante, shooting 72 percent from the field en route to scoring 53 points in the half with Eckerd trimming the Bucs' lead to no less than 10 points in the half.

Woody Taylor and
Lewis Lampley each scored 10 points while Barry's Evan White and Tony Dennison scored 22 and 21, points, respectively.
Eckerd will return to action on Wednesday, January 6 as it travels to Lakeland, Fla. to battle Florida Southern in SSC action at 7:30pm.
