Men's Soccer Falls at Flagler, 2-1

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - The Eckerd men's soccer team (5-5) fell on the road in non-conference action against the Flagler Saints (7-3-1) by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday afternoon at Saints Field. After Luke Sheekey tied the game at 1-1 in the 84th minute, Flagler's Joseph Toby scored four minutes later to put the Saints ahead for good.

The Saints went ahead early, when Will Frandsen scored on a free kick in the 11th minute to give Flagler a 1-0 lead.

The score remained unchanged until the 84th minute when Sheekey equalized on a through ball sent in by Colin Kuhn.

Toby iced the game in the 88th minute when he took a pass from Dan Reid and fired it into the net from five yards out for the 2-1 lead.

The game proved to be a wide-open, yet physical affair as Eckerd out-shot Flagler 15-13 while both teams committed 13 fouls. Both goalkeepers, Domenic Spedaliere for the Tritons and Matt Gilman, made four saves.

Eckerd will return to the pitch on Saturday, October 10 as it hosts the Nova Southeastern Sharks at 7pm in SSC action.
