Jeffares (Softball) was the female recipient of the James R. Harley Award that was presented at the annual athletics banquet on Friday evening...the Harley Aaward is presented to the male and female senior student-athlete that has demonstrated leadership and excellence in the classroom, on the field of competition and in the community...This is the highest award an Eckerd College student-athlete can receive.
This spring, Jeffares batted .288 while setting the table for all possible 52 games as the leadoff hitter. In addition to her nearly impeccable defensive play in right field, she continued her steady ascent up the record books in multiple statistical categories as the spring came to a close.
With 214 games played in her four-year tenure, Jeffares ranks fourth all-time in program history. She also finishes up third in hits (168), tied for second in triples (11), fourth in doubles (32) and walks (66), tied for fourth in runs scored (101) and seventh in RBI (66).
She recorded a team-leading 13 sacrifice bunts and legged out four triples while hitting the first two home runs of her career. Appropriately, she was selected to the All-SSC Second Team in her final season.
Jeffares is a Communications major and is on track to graduate later this month.
