Connors enters his second year as an assistant coach with Eckerd’s volleyball program for the 2016 season.
He joins the staff after experiences as both a player and a coach over the past six years.
His coaching career began in 2009 as head coach for Circus Volleyball Club’s top 18-U boys’ team. After a year there, he joined the University of Michigan’s summer club coaching staff where he spent four years from 2011-2014.
During the Michigan club offseason, he coached at Orland Volleyball Club in 2012 and Treasure Coast Volleyball Club in 2013 and 2014. While at Treasure Coast, he spent time as the 2014 head coach for the top 16-U team and assistant coach of the top 18-U squad. In 2013, he assisted with the 17-U club.
As a player, Connors has built an impressive resume both collegiately and professionally.
In 2009, he played for the NAIA No. 3 ranked Cardinal Stritch University Wolves as a setter before transferring to the fifth-ranked Warner University Royals in 2010. At Warner, Connors transitioned into the role of outside hitter and led the team in kills (282) and kills per set (3.48) during the 2011 season.
He was invited to travel with Team USA to Holland to compete as a member of the 2010 USA Athletes International program.
During the 2012 and 2013 seasons, Connors was a member of the Florida Wave men’s professional team. In 2014, he competed in the main draw at NVL tournaments in Atlanta and Cincinnati.
