Paul Honsinger enters his 20th season with the Eckerd women's basketball team in 2025-26, having built the program into a position of yearly competitiveness in the Sunshine State Conference and South Region. Eckerd has won four SSC Championships and made eight trips to the NCAA National Tournament in his tenure, with seven consecutive appearances, including the program's first post-season berth in 2014-15 and the programs first Sweet 16 appearance in 2022-23. The Tritons have also advanced to the second rond of the South Regional three straight seasons (2022, 2023, 2024)

Honsinger is a three-time NCAA Division II National Coach of the Year Finalist (2016-17, 2021-22, 2022-23) and a two-time SSC Coach of the Year recipient (2008-09, 2016-17).

Over the past seven seasons, his teams have posted a 181-60 record, which includes seven straight 20-plus win seasons as well as a 92-20 record at home. His squad has garnered multiple WBCA Top 25 rankings, reaching a program-best No. 5 during the 2022-23 season, and ending that season at No.9. 

Under his leadership, Eckerd has achieved year-over-year success, capturing three Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Tournament Championships and its first regular-season title in the 2016–17 season, earning the No. 1 seed in the NCAA South Region that year with a program-best record. In 2022–23, the Tritons reached a season-high No. 5 national ranking and finished the year at No. 9 in the WBCA Poll, setting five single-season team records and four individual records. The following year, Eckerd added a third SSC Tournament title and notched a major postseason upset over No. 8 Union in the NCAA Tournament.

Honsinger continuously coaches one of the most efficient and balanced teams in the nation, with yearly national rankings in defensive field goal percentage. His 2019-20 squad was highlighted by a 48.4 percent field goal percentage (fifth nationally) and led the team to national academic acclaim, ranking third on the WBCA Academic Top 25 Honor Roll with a 3.78 GPA. The team recorded the best start in program history at 9-0 in 2021-22 and also posted a 20-game win streak, the longest in Division II at the time.

In 2021-22, he coached Maya Price, who collected SSC Player of the Year and D2CCA First Team All-Region accolades. She is just the third player of the year in program history. Lauryn Vieira was tabbed the SSC Defensive Player of the Year, just the second in Eckerd history, and Sofia Persson, was named to the second team and newcomer team. 

In 2022-23, he guided Sofia Persson to WBCA Honorable Mention All-American, D2CCA All-Region, and SSC First Team honors. He also coached Lauryn Vieira to back-to-back SSC SSC Defensive Player of the Year accolades, just the third player in SSC history to do so, and Maya Price to another First Team All-SSC honor. 

In 2023-24, he guided Lauryn Vieira to First Team WBCA All-American honors, the first first-team selection in program history. She also garnered first team all-region, SSC Player of the Year, SSC Defensive Player of the year accolades. She became just the third SSC player to earn both awards in the same year and the first SSC player to receive three defensive player of the year honors. Hannah Wentworth was also selected to the third team.

A native of Troy, NY, he graduated from Eckerd with a degree in psychology in 1998, and he later received his master's degree in education administration from The College of Saint Rose (NY) in 2004. 

Honsinger resides in St. Petersburg and has three children Reese, Anna and Myles.

Prior to leading the Eckerd program, Honsinger, a native of Albany, N.Y., was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for the College of Saint Rose.
