FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – The Eckerd volleyball team defeated the Nova Southeastern Sharks on the road on Saturday by a final of 3-0.

The Tritons  took the match by scores of 25-22, 25-21, and 25-21 while holding the Sharks to a .088 hitting percentage. Eckerd produced 46 kills and 70 digs in the sweep.

Eckerd jumped out quickly in the opening frame as Jaelynn Tunley delivered an early kill before Seiler Hruska followed with back-to-back aces to help the Tritons build a 5-1 advantage. Nova Southeastern battled back to pull within one at 16-15, but Tunley halted the run with a kill. Grace Herzog added a pair of kills down the stretch, while Peyton Walker and Hruska also came through late before Tunley put away the final point for the 25-22 victory.

The Sharks built their largest advantage of the second set at 17-13, but Eckerd charged back after Hruska supplied a kill and Natalie Aniol and Walker combined for a block to help even the frame at 18-18. Hruska followed with another kill to push the Tritons in front and then pulled away from a 20-20 deadlock with four straight points. Tunley delivered a kill for a 23-20 cushion before Aniol and Walker teamed up for another block to reach set point. Tunley closed the frame with the winning kill for a 25-21 decision.

Eckerd carried the momentum into the third, racing to an 11-5 advantage. Jaiden Harris made an immediate impact in the frame, contributing three kills during the early surge. Nova Southeastern erased the deficit and eventually pulled even at 20-20, setting up another close finish. Harris responded with a kill to regain the lead before Tunley followed with another. Sydney Williams then delivered an ace to stretch the margin to 23-20. Harris added another kill for match point, and Hayden Nash finished the sweep with the final kill at 25-21.

Hruska and Tunley shared the team lead with 13 kills apiece. Hruska hit .314 while adding three aces and 12 digs, while Tunley hit .303 and collected 17 digs. Harris was nearly flawless in her lone set of action, posting six kills without an error on nine attacks for a .667 hitting percentage.

Grace Dumont directed the offense with 42 assists and added 15 digs, while Williams paced the defense with 18 digs. Walker finished with three total blocks, while Aniol added two.

Eckerd returns home for its next contest against Florida Southern on Tuesday.
